The REBUILD Rehabilita Conference: InCUBE Award Recognition in Sustainable Building Renovation

Among the key presenters at this year’s event was José Bailach from Metro7, an InCUBE project partner, which presented its innovative approaches to urban rehabilitation, focusing on sustainability and cutting-edge technology.

Pioneering Sustainable Renovation

Metro7, known for its expertise in industrialized rehabilitation solutions, showcased how its methods streamline renovation processes while ensuring energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact. As part of the InCUBE project, Metro7 is developing new strategies that integrate advanced prefabrication techniques and smart materials, aimed at reducing energy consumption in refurbished buildings.

Key Takeaways from the Conference

The conference brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers to discuss the future of building renovation. Some of the major themes included:

  • Energy Efficiency and Circular Economy: How industrialized construction methods can reduce energy use and improve resource efficiency.
  • Smart Materials and Prefabrication: The role of advanced materials in enhancing thermal performance and structural integrity in rehabilitated buildings.
  • Public-Private Collaboration: The importance of joint efforts between companies, local governments, and research institutions to accelerate urban renewal.

Award Recognition for InCUBE

The Metro7 was recognized as a finalist for the award, “Best use of industrialised construction in refurbishment’, at the Advanced Rehabitech Awards 2024 – a competition that highlights the most innovative and impactful solutions in the construction sector – for their work on the InCUBE demo site in Zaragoza, Spain. This nomination underscores the project’s role in shaping the future of sustainable building rehabilitation and fostering next-generation urban development models.
