Sustainable Places 2023 – Joint Workshop

A collaborative workshop was held among four Horizon Europe projects—CHRONICLE, InCUBE, REHOUSE, and SmartLivingEPC—and two Horizon 2020 projects—D^2EPC and EPC RECAST—to explore common themes such as sustainable construction and renovation, digitalization, and standardization.

The workshop’s main focus was on digitalisation of both energy performance assessment and the renovation process with two rounds of projects presentations followed by the roundtable discussion on the topic of “Digitalization as a support tool for the energy efficiency improvement in the renovation process”. This roundtable allowed all participating projects to delve deeper into how digitalization can contribute to the decarbonization and smartification of the building stock. Furthermore, it aimed to ensure a higher quality, more affordable built environment while preserving the climate, environment, and improving living conditions.

One of the workshop’s key objectives was to enable the Horizon Europe projects to leverage and build upon the findings and accomplishments of the Horizon 2020 projects, which are set to conclude this year. By capitalizing on the results of previous initiatives, the workshop sought to foster innovation and progress in the field of sustainable construction and renovation.

The joint workshop provided an invaluable platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking among the participating projects. Through their collective efforts, the projects aim to advance digitalization as a vital tool in achieving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and creating a more sustainable future for the built environment.

By bringing together the expertise and insights from various projects, the workshop has laid the foundation for future advancements in sustainable construction and renovation practices. The outcomes of this collaborative effort are poised to shape the development of digital tools and processes that will enhance energy efficiency, environmental preservation, and the overall quality of living spaces.
