The Municipality of Trento has officially presented in a conference on January 26, 2026, the completion of major redevelopment works in the Santa Chiara district, including the Cuminetti building and the Auditorium. The interventions were financed through Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and form part of a broader strategy to modernise public infrastructure across the district.

Completion of PNRR-Funded Works Strengthens InCUBE Activities in Trento

The public conference marked the conclusion of construction works aimed at improving building performance, safety, and functionality in facilities that serve educational, cultural and sports activities for more than 1,500 users.

Focus on Building B6 – the Trento Demo Site of InCUBE

Particular attention was given to Building B6, a historic structure within the district that has undergone targeted renovation works funded under the PNRR framework. The interventions included upgrades to building systems and energy performance measures, carried out with consideration for the architectural value of the site.

Building B6 is a central component of the InCUBE demonstration activities in Trento. The completion of the PNRR-funded works provides a strengthened physical foundation for ongoing digital and monitoring activities under the project.

Integration with InCUBE Activities

Within InCUBE, the Santa Chiara district serves as the Italian demonstration site, where digital twin methodologies and data-driven renovation processes are being implemented.

The structural and system-level improvements delivered through PNRR funding support the next phase of InCUBE activities, including:

  • Integration of BIM-based models with operational data
  • Monitoring of real energy performance
  • Evaluation of system upgrades
  • Data-supported analysis for optimised building management

The alignment of national investment through the PNRR with European research and innovation activities creates a coordinated framework for district-level renovation and performance assessment.

What’s Next for Renovation?

With construction works on the Cuminetti building, Auditorium, and Building B6 now completed, focus shifts toward operational monitoring and performance evaluation within the Santa Chiara district.

The completion of these interventions represents an important milestone for the district and reinforces the implementation of InCUBE activities in Trento, where physical renovation and digital innovation continue to progress in parallel.
