Santa Chiara in Transition: Urban Regeneration and Citizen Energy

On September 18th, the city of Trento will host an open event titled “I lavori del quartiere Santa Chiara e le comunità energetiche rinnovabili”—a community gathering focused on the ongoing regeneration of the Santa Chiara district and the exciting future of renewable energy communities (RECs).

Organised by Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) alongside local and regional partners, the evening will begin with a welcome and introduction of the real estate actors supporting the district’s transformation. Attendees will then hear directly from project representatives about the renovation plans and progress in Santa Chiara, with a special focus on the work being carried out under the InCUBE project—from energy-efficient retrofitting to smart system integration.

The conversation will then shift toward energy communities, with PAT-APRIE providing an accessible introduction to what CERs are and how the ECOEMPOWER project is helping lay the groundwork for collective energy action. Real-world examples from KONCERT and TECER will bring the concept to life, sharing lessons learned from operating energy communities in other parts of Trentino.

The evening will conclude with an open Q&A session, inviting residents and stakeholders to engage directly with experts and project leaders.

This event offers a valuable opportunity to understand how urban regeneration and citizen-led energy solutions can go hand in hand, making neighbourhoods more sustainable, resilient, and connected.
